About the Department

The department of Biotechnology was established in the year 2008. The department offered a 5 year-integrated M.S Biotechnology program initially in the year 2008. Later it was converted to a 2 year-M.Sc Biotechnology program in 2016. The curriculum is designed as per the requirements of global placements following current trends in scientific developments and research in the field of modern biotechnology. The department has advanced laboratories for conducting laboratory experiments and research for the students, scholars and faculty. These laboratories contain latest equipment such as sterile zone with biosafety cabinet (BSL-II), UV visible spectrophotometer, PCR etc. Thus, at the end of the program, students are able to acquire skills in advanced recent techniques and successfully placed in various government, research organizations, biotech and pharma industries as researchers, scientists and academicians.

Vision :

To develop the department into a Center of excellence (Coe) and a knowledge hub for Biotechnology. To encourage the students and scholars to achieve academic goals in the field of Biotechnology and also to promote the Institute to Industry (I to I) interaction
