About department

        The Department of Social Work was established initially as 2 year Post Graduation program in the year 2009. Currently the department has four faculty members. They are well qualified with Ph. D degrees in different specializations to cater the educational needs of the students. All the faculty members of the department are competent, experienced who are having specialization in the fields of Youth Empowerment, Primitive Tribes, Development and Displacement, HIV/AIDS besides that theoretical and empirical research in these areas. The department has striving to conduct socio-economic surveys in and around the local area of East Godavari and West Godavari District. At the starting department is headed (I/C) by Prof. P. Suresh Varma, Principal, University College of Arts and Commerce and at present Dr. R. Janaki Rao serving as Course Coordinator. The vision of the department of Social work is to become a major role as one of the leading Social Work education imparting institution in the State of Andhra Pradesh. The Department has been toiling to equip the students with emerging social wisdom, which in turn make the students to face real life and career challenges efficiently and effectively. The department motivates the students towards preparing for the national and state level competitive examinations and enables them for further educational pursuits. The mission of the department is imparting of quality education with high values and ethical standards. This department is committed to provide knowledge; various skills and value based education that enables to the students actively integrate these attributes into their professional careers. Our students were qualified in various examinations like UGC NET, JRF, AP SET and also secured jobs in various public sector as well as private sector.

Further, the department has been toiling to equip the students with emerging social wisdom, which in turn make the students to face real life and career challenges effectively and efficiently.

This department is committed to provide knowledge, skills and value based education that enables the students to actively integrate these attributes into their professional careers. Balanced mix of basic and applied research that would enrich the advancement of knowledge and provide creative solutions from problems that exist in society both government and private sectors.
